Short description Crestor is a medicine used to lower the levels of triglycerides and LDL cholesterol in the blood while increasing the levels of HDL cholesterol. The medicine further slows down the build-up of fatty deposits in the blood vessels. As a result, Crestor is used to lower the risks of stroke, heart attack and other heart related problems in people with a higher risk factor: people suffering from diabetes and coronary heart disease. The medicine is used by adults and children over 10 years old.   The film coated Crestor tablets are available in four strengths 5mg, 10mg, 20mg and 40mg. The dosage is changed depending on the age and condition of a patient. Typically, a patient will get started on the 5mg or the 10mg a day. The dose may then be increased to 20mg or 40mg a day. The doctor may also change the dosage from time to time for the best results to be achieved.
