|Short description Overview   The green coffee beans are the unroasted coffee beans. They are loaded with antioxidants as well as pharmacologically active compounds which include chlorogenic acid and Caffeine. Green coffee beans are the same as the regular coffee beans only that the green coffee is not roasted.   The Chlrogenic Acid is the active ingredient believed to trigger weight loss effects. Most of this compound is removed when coffee beans are roasted. Green coffee beans can also be used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension).   Green coffee beans contain caffeine which is important in boosting metabolism by 3 to 11%. Some studies have shown that caffeine can reduce the absorption of carbohydrates thereby lowering the blood sugar as well as insulin spikes.   Other studies show that chlorogenic acid reduces the absorption of fat from the digestive tract and also reduces fat stored in the liver. This also improves the function of the adiponectin the fat burning hormone. Chlorogenic acid will further improve triglyceride and cholesterol levels. It can hence be used to reduce the risk of heart disease.
